Pheew!!! What a week it's been. I made my first dress, using the Lutterloh pattern making system. There was a lot of trial and error involved I can tell  you that! I had to draft the pattern many times till I was satisfied I would get the right results. I had some fabric lying around to practice with, I  did not want to experiment with expenisive material. Well here is the finished product. And boy!! have my friends started oohing and aahing!

Hello everyone, I knnow tis been a week or so, since I last appeared. To say the least I got distracted.!! As you all know, I  declared at the beginning of March that every week there would be a new bag on show. Well I got ahead of myself., cos I could not wait to find out how the Lutterloh Pattern Making System works. Now mind u April had been set aside for dressmaking but just could not wait. As a result I just got two handbags made FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF MARCH!!! what a shame. Any how would like to know if anyone out there has used or uses the Lutterloh pattern making kit? In my opinion I dont think its very user friendly, no instructions to speak of.
For now I'm practicing on some fabric I had lying around and to say the truth I have no clue how the outcome would turn out. I love the catalogue of patterns, whether or not I figure out how to make them remains to be seen. But I will surely keep u posted.

I created this simple whimsical bag for mainly two reasons: the large round handlesand fabric were dying to be put to use.

SEWING PROJECT ORGANIZATION

This year I intend to add more structure and organization to make my sewing projects more fun and purposeful. So instead of deciding on a whim what to sew, which is very empowering don't get me wrong, I will try to stick to one topic a month, ie this month of March, its all about handmade bags. At the moment I'm  working on a day or night bag with a Spring theme.

HOW CAN WE USE SEWING TO IMPORVE THE WORLD.

I am soo passionate about sewing, currently its just a hobby, but I am evisioning the day when I will be able to sew full time. My present job pays my bills, but I dont know what I would have done without the therapeutic and  rewarding benefits of sewing. Oh did I mention fulfilling? Is there anyone out there who feels that sewing has been looked down on for far too long, and its about time for all we sewers and crafters to come out in full force. There is work to be done. The cost of fabrics are way to high, we need more vocational schools, to help to encourage the use of the right side of our brains, not to mention bring down the high rate of unemployment globally.
I make my own bags, and this year I have made a pledge to start making my own clothes. to make it more fun I would be happy to team up with like-minders. I also joined an organization that makes clothes for people in need. I am als hoping to one visit remote places of the world and help teach women and girls how to sew.
Would be nice to hear from u.  Sena G.
